Open studios, loyal collectors!

Today was a great Open Studios at Cubberley Studios!

A couple came into my studio today, and said they had bought a painting of mine in around 2001 or 2002, and have been following my work ever since!  I was really touched, and asked them to take a photo of the painting. It is nice to have loyal fans!

Here is the painting, I think it is 16 x 20 inches:

Two new plein air paintings from Point Lobos in Carmel... both are 10 x 10 inches. The day I painted these, the air was a soft 86 degrees, shorts weather in Carmel! It was lovely to be warm and plein air painting at the same time--a rare occurrence.

Figs, 10 x 10 inches, oil.

Still-life is refreshing and relaxing to paint--I love the freedom to simply observe and record, rather than the design, attempt, redo, edit that other types of work I do require.

Marsh Colors, 6 x 6 inches, oil, $150.

Lodi Barn, 6 x 6 inches, oil, $150.

Lockford Crossing, 6 x 6 inches, oil, $150.

Quarry Hill Botanical Garden Water Lilies, 10 x 20 inches, pastel.

Just a quick post of one of the paintings that I did during the Sonoma Plein Air Festival last week. I did this painting in the rain--fortunately a knight errant came up to the lake in a golf cart to give my soggy, sorry self a ride back to the parking lot.

The fun never ends--this weekend is the Los Gatos Plein Air Festival. The paintings will be assembled Saturday June 5th from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Old Town Shopping Center.

Point Lobos on a lovely winter day

Point Lobos Splash, 8 x 10 inches, oil.

Point Lobos Cove, 8 x 10 inches, oil.

These two paintings were done on a recent delivery trip to the Portnoy Gallery in Carmel--the last warm, gentle day before the storms rushed in. I spent the afternoon painting in the company of White-crowned Sparrows and Audubon's Warblers, both of which species were pretending to be intertidal species for the day and hunting for brine flies among the tide pools.
